indeed it's the only thing that ever has.

Texas Trash-Off
Keep Brazos Beautiful Seeking Volunteers for
Annual Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off

Keep Brazos Beautiful (KBB) is seeking individuals, neighborhood groups, clubs, churches, civic organizations, non-profit organizations, scouts, youth groups and businesses to VOLUNTEER to help clean litter and trash dumped illegally in Brazos County during the Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off, on Saturday, April 10th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

This year marks our 10th Anniversary for the areas largest clean-up and educational litter effort, The Annual Dont Mess With Texas Trash Off! Hundreds of volunteers are needed to sign up to have fun and show their community pride as they join over 200,000 volunteers from across the state, along with 3,500 Adopt-a-Highway groups to pick up several million pounds of litter from Texas roadsides, city parks, and lakes and rivers.

Volunteers who sign up ahead of time will meet at their pre-assigned areas to clean. Volunteers will clean from 9:00-11:30 and then return to CENTRAL PARK in College Station (new location this year!) at noon to compete for prizes for Most Unusual Trash, The Tin Cup Award for the largest team, Most Volunteers, receive cool door prizes and enjoy a FREE Appreciation Lunch Party. The first 500 to register will also receive an anniversary event T-Shirt!

The Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off is a statewide event organized by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB),and locally by Keep Brazos Beautiful. This year marks the 23rd annual statewide cleanup and the 10th annual local event. The Trash-Off is a part of America' s largest organized litter cleanup, recycling and beautification program, the Great American Cleanup, which is organized by Keep America Beautiful and runs March through May in states across the nation.

Last year, 664 local volunteers cleaned up over 7.2 TONS of litter and debris and recycled 502 abandoned tires. Areas cleaned included many local neighborhoods, parks, creeks, roads, highways and railroad right of ways, and school campuses in Bryan and College Station.

Every year about 1 billion pieces of litter accumulate on Texas highways, and taxpayers are footing the bill to clean it up. The state alone spends around $35 million a year in cleanup costs, and contrary to what many people believe, it is not prisoners who are to getting it done. Ninety percent of our roads are cleaned by paid contractors and volunteers do the rest.

So please help us keep our community clean, green and beautiful by volunteering. Sign up today!!! You can also sign up online with our Volunteer Application.
